Many of us already have more “stuff” than we really need, which means it can be hard to find gifts for friends and family at Christmas time. But bike riders always need something, right? We have a few Ride the Alps suggestions for mountain biking Christmas gifts.
If you’re looking for a really, really big gift then there is only one choice. A new bike! We don’t know any mountain bikers who aren’t forever on the look out for another bike. They say you can never have too many. In our opinion the best bikes to ride are Orange. I am loving my new Orange Five and Jamie will be wearing out another Alpine 6 in 2020.
If you’re looking for a hand-built custom frame then check-out Selwyn Handmade Bicycles. Frame-builder Alexander is currently working on a new hardtail for Jamie for next season. Our daughter Juliet loves her Selwyn mountain bike.
If it’s a stocking-filler you’re after then one of our hand made Popcorn Vintage headbands could be just the thing. They are perfect for wearing under your helmet to keep your ears warm on those chilly winter bike rides. Only 20 euro per headband. We will post internationally. Choose from our range of colours below.
Or how about the classic Christmas stocking-filler – a pair of socks! But not just any socks. The very best waterproof socks you can buy: Polaris cascade merino socks. Perfect for winter riding, especially fat biking in the snow. Jamie and I don’t go out without them.
Mountain biking Christmas gifts can also be experiences. What could be more festive than a long weekend of fat biking in the snowy Alps. Our fat biking weekends are perfect for couples or groups of riders.
For small groups of up to 4 people our Morillon holiday apartment is available from now up to the 20th December, 8th-12th January, 15th-31st January and 16th March up to the end of the season. For a group of 3 the price is 385 euro p.p for 2 days fully guided fat biking, 3 nights self-catering accommodation, bike hire and van support for uplifts and logistics as necessary. A continental breakfast can be added for 21 euro p.p per stay including fresh bread and croissants delivered each morning. The apartment is next door to our house so it’s very convenient for the riding and any questions you might have about the trip.
For those of you who prefer hotel-style accommodation this season we will be teaming-up again with the fantastic team at La Reposette in Vercland, Samoens. For a group of 4 the price is 448 euro p.p for 2 days fully guided fat biking, 3 nights bed and breakfast accommodation, bike hire and van support for uplifts and logistics as necessary. La Reposette is one of our favourite places to go for apres ski/bike/board/snowshoe. There’s a lovely warm, friendly atmosphere and the food is very tasty and good value.
Good luck with your Christmas shopping! If you want to book a fat biking weekend or order a headband, contact Mary.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a happy winter and lots of bike adventures in the New Year!
