After much deliberation Jamie has decided that he will move with the market and offer two e-mountain bike trips for the 2025 season. Jamie is a true mountain bike adventurer, with gruelling trips across China and Australia among his epic two-wheeled adventures. Testing the limits of what terrain can be ridden with pedal power alone is at the heart of his adventurous spirit. It was this spirit that led him to establish Ride the Alps and pioneer so many incredible point-to-point routes. Given his history, it has been challenging for him to adjust to a mountain biking world within which power-assisted e-bikes are increasingly dominant. That said, Jamie has seen first hand how e-bikes can help older people or people with disabilities to have the kind of adventures they could only dream of just a few years ago. E-bikes are certainly playing a role in getting more people out on bike adventures, experiencing the joy of mountain biking and that is definitely a positive development.
In response to an increasing number of requests for e-mountain bike trips over the past couple of years, we have created an e-bike version of our point-to-point Eiger Tour and opened up our centre-based Alpine Singletrack trip to e-bikers. The e-bike version of our Eiger Tour is one day shorter than the standard itinerary, that is, a 7-day trip with 5 days of riding. Jamie has also made some other minor adjustments to the route. It remains an adventurous route for experienced mountain bikers through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Swiss Alps. The Alpine Singletrack trip does not really require any amends although the need for uplifts will be less. This is also principally a trip for experienced mountain bikers but because it is centre-based, we have more flexibility to customise the trip for less experienced riders.
In other news, winter is here! This weekend brought snow down to the valley floor so Jamie and I nipped out for a Sunday morning fat bike ride. It was great to feel the crunch of snow under our tyres again and we’re looking forward to welcoming fat bikers to stay this season. If you’re interested in a long weekend of fat biking, please do get in touch. We can offer a two night break for two people in our holiday apartment with one full day and two half days of fully guided fat biking for 600 euro per person. December, January and February are the best months for fat biking so don’t leave it too long before you make your enquiry.
Have a wonderful festive season and we hope to see you in 2025!
