Over the years we’ve done a lot of riding with our own kids, their friends and Ride the Alps family groups. Through this experience, we believe we have the knowledge to design the perfect family mountain biking adventure and we would like to share it with you.
During this trip you’ll explore some of the best family-friendly trails in our part of the French Alps, including our kids’ favourite bike parks. We can tailor the trip to suit the ages and abilities of all family members, with more emphasis on backcountry singletrack trails or bike park fun according to your preferences. It’s all about putting smiles on everyone’s faces and enjoying a special family adventure together.
Our family mountain biking adventure is designed for keen mountain biking families who are reasonably fit and ride regularly. You don’t have to be an experienced mountain biker to ride these trips but some intermediate skills would be preferable.
You will be based in the beautiful village of Samoëns, which has preserved its traditional Savoyard character and charm and has been voted the most beautiful village in the Haute Savoie. There is also a fantastic network of mountain biking trails here that can be easily accessed with cable cars, chairlifts and uplifts.
We’ve teamed-up with Liz and Andy from Pure Chalets to offer you a fantastic package that includes five days of guiding with 7 nights superb chalet-style accommodation and van support for uplifts and trip logistics. Your 7 night stay includes daily breakfast and afternoon tea, and a 4-course evening meal with wine for 5 nights. Airport transfers from and back to Geneva airport are optional. The Pure Chalets package is excellent value but if you are on a tighter budget there is also the option of booking your own accommodation.
We allow for one day off during your week to give younger (or older!) riders a break from the bikes and to enable you to try one of the many other fantastic family activities on offer in the Haut Giffre valley, including rafting, pony trekking, climbing, via ferrata, and canyoneering.
There is the option of adding in an outstanding mini point-to-point adventure into the week long itinerary with a memorable night in an alpine refuge. This could be the Refuge Moede d’Anterne with breath-taking views of the Mont Blanc massif or the beautifully situated Refuge du Lac de Gers.
The composition of your family group is up to you. We can accommodate single family units, two families combined, a group of mums and daughters or fathers and sons. It’s up to you. The maximum number is 8 people. We can run this trip from mid-June through to the end of August when the lifts close in the Haut Giffre.
You can read more about our family mountain biking adventure on our website. Please do get in touch if you are interested in this trip and we can provide you with further details and a price based on your group size and preferences.
