Dreaming of summer adventures ?

As winter approaches, we're dreaming of summer adventures.

As I write the rain is hammering down outside and snow is forecast for later in the week. The nights are drawing in and it’s not so easy to get out mountain biking for a couple of hours after work. Winter is on it’s way. For many of us, it’s the perfect time of year to dream of summer adventures.

We have been updating our website this week, making some adjustments to a few of our trips. Having re-ridden our Tour of Monte Rosa this September for the first time in a few years, Jamie felt our trip description needed updating. We’ve always billed this tour as our toughest point-to-point route. Whilst the Tour of Monte Rosa is a tough trip both physically and technically, Jamie now thinks the level of difficulty is not as high as he initially thought. We would now place it along side our Chamonix to Zermatt or Chamonix to Briancon trips in terms of physical and technical difficulty. If you’ve been put off riding this route, thinking it might be too extreme, you might now want to add it to your list of possible summer adventures. Have a read through our updated description of the trip here.

We’ve also updated our Swiss Heli-biking Weekend. After a few years of running these long weekends, Jamie felt like the itinerary needed simplifying. We’ve changed the accommodation to one centre base, which is more practical and frees up more time for riding. We’ve also chosen a centre base in Visp that opens up more route possibilities. We advertise the trip with 3 days of guided riding but we can be flexible on this if you would like a longer trip. It should definitely be a contender for your potential summer adventures.

Jamie is constantly rethinking our trips and making improvements as he rides each year. It’s important that we update our trip descriptions accordingly. We feel that’s one of the advantages of riding with a small family-run business like ours. The trail knowledge and experience of the guide feeds directly into the trips that we offer on our website.

We were contacted this week by a journalist writing an article on alternative winter sports holidays for The Times. She plans to feature our Fat Biking trips in the travel section, this coming Saturday (22nd November). Keep a look out for the article. Fat biking has gone out of fashion a bit in recent years but we still think it’s a wonderful way of having fun in the snow for non-skiers and skiers alike. I love the feeling of the compression of snow under the big chunky tyres, the beauty of the snow-covered trees and the softening of sound that a snowfall brings as I pedal along a woodland trail. For me, that’s the experience of a true winter wonderland.

Enjoying dreaming of your summer adventures this winter and get in touch if we can help you make them a reality.
