Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about the Alpine Singletrack week mountain bike trip.

How hard is it really going to be?

The Alpine single track week is the most flexible and luxurious of the riding weeks we offer. As pampered as you can be on a mountain biking holiday with centre based accommodation and excellent food. The riding in the Alps is hugely varied, with some big climbs and can be very technically demanding in places. We aim to do as much riding as possible in as many different areas as possible, aimed at the level to suit you. Please call or email us to clarify any queries with regards your suitability. The trails include some technically difficult sections but over all this trip is designed to be challenging for a weekend rider whilst providing the opportunity to see and ride in a lot of different places in the Alps. Suitable for all riders that are reasonably fit, ride regularly and want a challenging, rewarding and varied week of riding with good hotels and excellent food.

What do I need to bring?

Your bike! In good working order, full suspension and disc brakes are recommended to make you life more comfortable. Your bike must be a good quality mountain bike with at least decent front suspension forks. No hybrid bikes please as these are not suitable. Most appropriate would be regular hard tails or full suspension with 4 to 6 inch travel.

Enough clothing for 6 continuous days of riding in hot weather as well as some cool weather gear for the high passes and rides on the chair lifts, which can be chilly. Maximum altitude is approximately 2,500m or 7,000 feet so there are no problems with altitude sickness but it can be cold if the weather turns. As this is the Alps we can expect alpine weather patterns which include the chance of inclement weather; showers or thunder storms are possible. Have a look at the full kit list below if you need more guidance on what to bring. You will need enough personal spending money for the chairlifts and your restaurant lunches and any drinks and souvenirs you buy whilst here, we suggest at least 200 euro but it depends on how much you intend to eat and drink! Lastly bring a good attitude, plenty of energy and a willingness to give new things a go as there's lots of fun to be had out on them trails!
