Ride the Alps 2023 mountain biking adventures

Our news from the mountains at the start of 2023

Post by Mary on January 11, 2023

Happy New Year! Ride the Alps 2023 is going to be a good year. The year we can finally move out of the shadow of Covid 19. We’re looking forward to running our Winter Fat Biking trips once again and enjoying a full summer season of mountain biking. Even our guests from Australia and New Zealand will be able to join us out on the alpine trails in 2023.

This week the World Ice Swimming Championships are being held in Samoens. Jamie and I were out on our fat bikes yesterday, enjoying a fresh snowfall and checking out the swimming area. A drone happened to take a photo just as we were passing. You can just see two little fat bikers in the top right hand corner of the photo!

You may have heard that we haven’t had a great deal of snow in our part of the French Alps so far this season. The situation was pretty dire over the festive period but things are now looking up with snow forecast this week and next and temperatures closer to the norm for this time of year. January is the best month of the year for fat biking so if you fancy a weekend away on two wheels in the snow please do get in touch. Our apartment is available until 28th January and is perfect for small groups. 600 euro p.p for 2 people staying 2 nights B&B in our apartment, 2 days fat biking and bike hire included. For longer stays and different group sizes please contact Mary.

What else is going on for Ride the Alps 2023? Our summer season is filling up but we do have 1 week remaining in the high season for point-to-point trips: 9th-16th July. Outside of the peak season we have availability 1st-18th June and from 27th September up to mid-October. Early and late season are ideal for our centre-based trips in the French and Swiss Alps including Alpine Singletrack, Alpine Enduro and our new Swiss Heli-biking experience.

On the family biking front Ride the Alps 2023 will include riding the Sustrans route, the Bay Cycle Way in the Spring. It’s a 4 day bike tour in the North West of England from Walney Island to Lancaster.

Jamie will be entering the enduro race at the Samoens Velo Vert festival again this year. The festival will run from 2nd-4th June 2023. Hopefully the weather will be better than the torrential rain we had in 2022.

Whatever you do this year, we wish you good health, happiness and lots of fun adventures! We hope to see you out in the Alps in 2023.
