The peaks are once again snow-covered and the mornings are cold and frosty. Winter is definitely on its way here in the Alps. It’s not yet time to pack away the trail bikes but we are getting the fat bikes ready for the alpine winter biking season ahead.

We’re looking forward to a proper winter biking season this year and we’re excited to welcome you all back to the Alps after a difficult couple of years. Covid cases are very low here in France and travel restrictions are minimal if you’re fully vaccinated. We’re confident that the continued health measures the French Government has kept in place, like the health pass and mask wearing for indoor public spaces, will keep a lid on the virus throughout the winter. It’s definitely the right time to plan an alpine winter adventure on four wheels. If you have any questions about the logistics of travel to France this winter then please don’t hesitate ask.

We have routes for all levels of rider from easy valley trails to fast blasts down the pistes to challenging mountain refuge ascents. The better you are at handling your bike, the more routes will be available to you. We can tailor the trip to suit your needs and experience. We are very flexible regarding the length of your trip and arrival and departure days. Accommodation is scare in the peak weeks of the season, especially February, but December, January and March are excellent months for fat biking. We have 3 accommodation options:

  • a self-contained apartment (sleeps 4 comfortably) available as self-catering or B&B
  • rooms in a catered chalet available as B&B or half board
  • rooms in a small hotel available as B&B but you can eat a la carte in the restaurant

If you have your own accommodation and would like a day or two of fat biking during your stay we would be happy to guide you.

We have 4 fat bikes of our own but we can rent more bikes for larger groups as necessary. Our bikes rely on pedal power alone but we can rent electric fat bikes for you if you need some extra assistance.

Contact Mary for further details and prices.

Enjoy the rest of autumn and we hope to see you out here this winter!
